'Wolverine' premiere cancelled in Mexico: report
The Mexico City premiere of blockbuster movie ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ has been cancelled because of the killer swine flu outbreak, People magazine reported Monday.A spokesperson for Twentieth Century Fox told the magazine the red carpet event had been cancelled out of concern for the safety of the film's star Hugh Jackman and the studio's staff."We were not only concerned about Hugh's welfare -- and we would never send anyone into harm's way -- but we also have an enormous office filled with people we care about," the spokesperson was quoted as saying."There was no point in proceeding under the current conditions." Australian heart-throb Jackman was the only cast member from the film expected to attend the premiere, which could be rescheduled. Some 149 people are believed to have been killed from and more than 1,600 sickened from Mexico's swine flu outbreak.Schools across the country have been closed until May 6 in a bid to stop the spread of the flu.
